Oyster Farming Deck Hand

Role:
This position is for an oyster farm worker/deckhand on our small boats and work barges tending our 22 acre oyster farm. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely on the water. You’ll be ready to pitch in wherever needed, communicate effectively with the team, and stay positive in a fast-paced environment. Being on your feet all day and getting muddy is part of the job, so a good attitude and willingness to learn are essential. Comfort with driving boats and company trucks is a plus. Responsibilities:
Running 21-24ft boats with tiller steer, occasionally helm steer boat as well
Handling lines, oyster cages, bags and equipment
Sorting, grading, counting, washing down oysters
Harvesting market oysters
Landing, tumbling, and re-bagging oysters as they grow.
Manage supplies needed for the oyster farm, and associated vessels
Job Qualifications:
Ability to stand and work for several hours at a time outside.
Ability to lift 30 lbs. repetitively.
Experience on the water is preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate.
Positive and helpful disposition.
Ability to work with a team.
Ability to use phone applications for clocking in, organizing farm, communicating with co-workers and tagging oysters
